Varshangalkku Shesham (transl. Years later) is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language period romantic drama film written and directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. It was produced and distributed by Visakh Subramaniam for Merryland Cinemas. The film stars Pranav Mohanlal, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Basil Joseph, Vineeth, Neeraj Madhav, Neeta Pillai, Arjun Lal, Nikhil Nair, Shaan Rahman, and Nivin Pauly. The film’s original score and songs were composed by debutant Amrit Ramnath. The film revolves around a young man who leaves his town in Kerala to chase his dream of becoming a director in the cinema-obsessed world of the then Madras, now known as Chennai. Principal photography that began on 26 October 2023 was completed on 20 December. Varshangalkku Shesham is scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide on 11 April 2024.

Varshangalkku Shesham brings together director Vineeth Sreenivasan, producer Visakh Subramaniam, actor Pranav Mohanlal, and actress Kalyani Priyadarshan after their 2022 film Hridayam. The film was officially announced on 13 July 2023.[1] Vineeth describes the film as the story of a bunch of friends.[2]
Casting[edit]
The film have an ensemble star cast, led by Pranav Mohanlal, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Basil Joseph, Vineeth, Neeraj Madhav, Neeta Pillai, Arjun Lal, Nikhil Nair, Shaan Rahman, and Nivin Pauly.[1] Dhyan lost body weight to prepare for his role.[3] The film also marks the fifth reunion of Nivin and Vineeth.
Filming[edit]
Principal photography began on 26 October 2023. From the following day onward, filming was reported to move to various locations, such as Aroor, Ernakulam, Kannur, Chennai, and Coimbatore, where significant portions of the film were planned to be shot.[4] The first schedule of filming was concluded after 23 days.[5] Nivin joined the film in Munnar in December.[6] The whole filming was completed on 20 December 2023.[7] The entire shooting process spanned 40 days across more than 50 locations, involving over 200 crew members.[8]
Music[edit]
Varshangalkku Shesham marks the debut feature film composition work of Amrit Ramnath, son of singer-composer Bombay Jayashri. He was until then composing independent tracks for some years.[9] Think Music, the record label that had previously collaborated with Vineeth on Hridayam, was brought onboard to distribute the soundtrack of Varshangalkku Shesham. Ramnath started composing for the film while he was at the hospital where his mother was admitted. He set up a mini studio within her hospital room. The initial three tracks were composed during this period. Upon listening to the second track, Vineeth expressed interest in having Jayashri contribute lyrics to the song, which she agreed.[10]

Varshangalkku Shesham is scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide in April 2024 during the festivals of Ramadan and Vishu. The date was announced through a first-look poster released by director Karan Johar in December 2023.[11][12]
